Hello there!
We have adjusted to our back to school routine and our daughter is in JV Volleyball this year, I am so proud of her.
I am still working on our Fall garden, as I have hopes to be eating fresh lettuce until it snows haha!
I decided to challenge myself to create a Fall table setting with things I already have on hand.
I did buy some fresh flowers and greenery, but otherwise I pulled things from the cupboard and cannot tell you how fun this was to create!
I decided a couple years ago that I would be more intentional with planning even the most simple meal and to use the “good stuff” all the time.
For me the good stuff isn’t particularly expensive but thoughtfully collected over the years.
Have I broken a few plates and gotten some stains on some linens?
Yes.
But I remember having fun with friends, laughing and spending cherished time together.
I remember the look on the kids face when we have boxed pizza on the good plates and stemmed glassware for our soda.
They asked if it was a special occasion.
That is when I realized I was waiting for a special occasion to use the plates and forks that I love so much.
When I could be using them all of the time, because the people are the special occasion.
I might be mixing 15 year old plates from Walmart with vintage copper chargers, but the result is a warm, cozy atmosphere that just says….
Sit.
Enjoy.
Let’s linger here and talk about the day, our next camping trip, or sometimes just enjoy the quiet together in a space that gives you a hug.
Here is what I used 🙂
I began with an off white linen table cloth and topped it with a crochet edge runner I found a few years ago at a local thrift store.
Napkins are a tan and white large buffalo check, also thrifted.
I was not sure if the old crock was water tight after all these years so I placed a Mason jar inside with water and arranged my fresh flowers.
I used stemmed and stemless wine glasses that we use all the time, but they somehow look a bit more upscale when it all came together.
I tucked some faux berry stems and pastel painted pumpkins here and there with my amber votives and I love the colors together.
Just enough Fall goodness without too much.
I am not sure you can ever have enough roses, especially in pink, I just love the combination when it’s all together.
I guess that is the spirit behind the prep work, cooking a meal to share with people we love, and every last detail.
It’s got to be a love language, the care and thought that goes into the spaces and feel we create in our homes.
The hope that all who gather around our table feel loved, and take that feeling with them as they go about their week.

I love the idea of “using the good stuff all the time”. It helps us to remember that what we have is often more than enough.
