I am so excited to be joining Mary Jo from Master Pieces of My Life and Rachel from The Antiqued Journey today in their series showcasing Thrifted Goodies!
Knowing that they are both avid thrifters, and lovers of everything vintage I was thrilled to join these two amazingly talented ladies.
I have loved the thrifted life as long as I can remember. I grew up in a smaller town in central Washington state, and realized early on that I loved anything with a story. On Saturday mornings I would jump on my old Schwinn (sparkly red with a floral printed seat- of course) to do a quick morning ride. If I am being honest, I was checking out all of the neighbors and streets nearby for what appeared to be a yard sale. It starts young right?!
Today I have a simple grouping of thrifted mirrors and picture frames for you.
This is an easy grouping of vintage and thrifted finds that could be done on a shelf or mantel. It was really hard to narrow down what I was going to share because almost everything I decorate with is from a thrift store, vintage shop or tag sale. But after a good look at the number of thrifted mirrors I have in rotation around our home, I landed on mirrors and picture frames.
Which, seems like there is always an abundance of each when I go thrifting.
Having said that, sometimes they are a bit (or super!) outdated and need some paint and love. I am always on the hunt for good solid pieces that can work in multiple areas in my home. And, if I think I can resell it for even more, I may use a find for a while or immediately fix it up and list it for sale.
The latter has happened many times as I find myself thinking I have room for everything I love. Apparently this applies to a whole lot of furniture and cast off chairs, our front living room in particular can end up looking like a maze at times until an item sells.
But, I love the thrill of the hunt and sharing what I find with you, what could be better than that?
My favorite way to refresh a space is to clear it completely and give it a good dusting. While I look at the new empty space I choose an anchor piece that typically is the larger piece that I work around.
This time it is an old bevel edge mirror that has a lovely carved wood detail at the top. When I bought this it came with two small side mirrors but when I got them home I saw that one had a crack in the corner. It spread quickly so I opted to recycle the one that broke, use the other small mirror in little displays, and keep this center piece by itself.
With the beautiful Spring sunshine coming in, I wanted to reflect as much light as I could so I opted to add one more mirror, but being near the same size as the main one, I turned it on it’s side.
That was a great starting point, but alas, more thrifted goodness was needed.
I added a favorite cement bust “Tony” not sure why but the name made sense at the time. A favorite print in a thrifted frame painted black, and a copper pitcher of soft pink roses.
A pretty spring candle and a favorite thrifted find, a little golden peacock.
The multiple warm tones along with the different shapes of the mirrors just works in every thrifted way possible don’t you think?
