Hello there! Happy we-are-getting-closer-to-Spring! Are you excited for Spring or ok with Winter lasting as long as it can? Either way, there is no denying the joy those first bursts of color outside and sunshine can bring.
We have been super busy around casa twelveOeight this week, wrapping up a huge remodel for a client and getting our seed starting area all set up. I was so excited to start some lettuce under our LED lights in their start trays. Now we are watching for that little bit of green to push thru the dirt. It shouldn’t be long now 🙂
Are you planning a garden or growing herbs this year? I would love to hear what you are planning, it is SO satisfying and rewarding. My hope is to grow enough tomatoes especially to justify investing in a canning system. Up until now we have frozen them and been very happy with the results, but I am really interested in learning to can. We will see!
I find every few months or so I get the bug to refresh a few areas in our home, especially our entry way. I like for this little space to be a reflection of the season we are in as well as pull from our love of mixing vintage with modern style and elements.
And the really fun part is that most of what is in my home is thrifted. Not 100% but quite a bit, I love repurposing things, giving a dresser a makeover or painting a lamp. Switching up the walls in a room or changing out the accessories can make such a difference. And when you can incorporate vintage furniture, art and accessories the combination seems to make a space feel so cozy and welcoming.
So, to refresh our entryway for the 107th time, here is what I did 🙂
I started with giving my vintage dresser (I love this dresser!) a little change up by sanding just the drawer fronts and using a matte poly sealer. I switched out the knobs with some faux crystal knobs and I love the warmth this brings to our entryway! I bought it for $35 about 9 years ago, it has been three different colors and the wooden wheels are what sold me originally.
I shopped our house and moved the thrifted shell chandelier to this spot, as my Monstera plant in the front room was dwarfing it. I added two very affordable prints I found at Ross last year, a thrifted lamp, tray and elephant from Goodwill too.
The small orange print is from Amazon and the vase and flowers (JoAnn’s and Ross again) plus the raffia wall hangings I made last year. Directions are here 🙂
And the paint, THE PAINT I love, Little Black Dress by Behr, it’s a warm, smoky almost black and I could not love using it more!
I did not buy anything new for this refresh, just used paint and items I already had. It’s amazing by using a little creativity and moving your stuff around you can capture a totally new look!
