Hi friends!
As promised, I am sharing every last thing that I am working on and making this Spring small or grand. Today is somewhere in between as it is very easy (my fave!) but has a big impact when you are finished.
I recently stopped by the craft supply store for some floral supplies and to take a look at the ribbons for upcoming projects. I was on a bit of a mission as it was also my afternoon to hit every thrift store I could before needing to get home. When I passed by the paper aisle there was the most beautiful shade of green cardstock paper.
I could have asked myself, do you already have paper at home? Do you really need more paper? Luckily it was throw caution to the wind day and in the cart went the pretty green paper.
All I could think about was leaves, do I make a leaf garland? I could…..
Then I saw the florals in the most beautiful colors of spring that I could imagine. And in the next aisle over packages of these little stamens, for the center of the flowers, and just perfect for a new wreath.
While cleaning out an area of our garage and making space for my lights and seed starts, I saw I already had a few bases for wreaths so it was just a matter of grabbing my scissors and hot glue at this point.
And hot tea, an afternoon is not complete without some tea. Mind you I am drinking it out of my giant morning coffee cup, not a fancy tea cup lest anyone think I plan ahead that far!
The gift of the creative process has been a lifelong love for me. It has been a constant in life and at times the only thing I felt control over, and certainly one that has brought me joy.
I have spent many evenings stringing beads onto a chandelier, cutting out leaves or trimming tassels while we watch some of our favorite binges on Netflix at night. I used a bit of time last night to cut out the leaves I would use for the wreath while watching a good mystery.
There was also Boom Chica Pop involved as well, I highly recommend it while crafting/binging a show/folding laundry/relaxing, you know just a regular evening at home.
I used a rounder shape for the leaves, more like a magnolia leaf, and the little wreath began to take shape. As I cut my leaves, I began to love this paper even more. Sorry I do love paper.
Once I had all of the leaves cut out, I used a dab of glue on the back of each “leaf” and arranged them around the wreath base. I added the flowers using hot glue, and lastly a little bundle of stamens glued into the center of the flowers.
This is my all time favorite type of project, it checks all the boxes: thrifty, fast, beautiful, and can go just about anywhere in my home.
And….wouldn’t a pretty wreath make a wonderful gift for Mother’s day? I see you getting your keys and heading out to buy paper 😉
I am sure like most things in our home she will move around considerably but for now I love her hung on our old hutch by a simple slim piece of jute twine.
