Hi there!

Well, it’s almost Thanksgiving friends, and I know many of you will be cooking and stuffing, and very busy the next couple
days.  At our house the Christmas music will be playing, and Santa’s little workshop will be in high gear while Thursday’s
turkey is simmering in the slow cooker and will become our yearly Turkey Rice Soup.

With a bunch of leftovers to work on for days, I like to spend the weekend after Thanksgiving working on homemade gifts.
And drinking a lot of coffee.  And cocoa.
And hitting “play” again on my favorite Bing Crosby Christmas collection.

Mason Jar Gifts are so fun to make, and who doesn’t love cookies right?
And a cookie recipe that is already half way done is pretty sweet, especially to receive as a gift.

Before we break out the Mason Jars and brown sugar out, here are some printable labels you can use too.
I printed mine out on white card stock, and folded up the directions and put them right on top of the chocolate
chips before I put the lid and ring on top of the jar.  You can also tape them behind the tag as well!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix Recipe

    • 1 1/2 cups gluten free or regular flour

    • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

    • dash of salt

    • 1 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips

    • 3/4 cup brown sugar, lightly packed

    • 3/4 cup white sugar

    • 1 cup rolled oats (I like to use certified Gluten Free Rolled Oats)

  • Wide mouth quart size mason jars, rings and lids, printable above, baker’s twine and scissors

How to make Mason Jar Cookie Mix twelveOeightblog.com #CookieMix #JarMix #GiftInAJar #MasonJarGift #HomemadeGift #twelveOeightblog

Begin by mixing your flour, salt and baking powder in a small bowl and carefully spoon mixture into the bottom of the jar.
Tap the jar so it settles evenly on the bottom, then reaching inside gently wipe off any flour clinging to the inside of the glass.
Next, spoon in your brown sugar, and pat down gently with a rubber spatula, smoothing it all around the edges.
Add the granulated sugar next, then the oats, and chocolate chips last.  Add a few extra chocolate chips if needed in order
to make the contents snug and it doesn’t shift in the jar.

Cut a piece of baker’s twine, punch a hole through the tag, and tie it around the top of the jar.
Make a whole bunch and share with your friends, teachers, and anyone who loves yummy cookies in your life, also a perfect thing for your wedding!!

    1. Thank you Jennifer! I agree, sometimes we end up with so many treats around the holiday’s it’s nice to have something to make on a January day when it’s dreary, and we just need a cookie. Have a great weekend- xoxo

    1. Hi Radha,

Yes, this recipe fills a one quart Mason Jar, so if you want to make more I usually just line up the jars and have the ingredients at stations filling each one like an assembly line. I will email you too 🙂

      xoxo

  1. What program did you use to make your darling labels. I wanted to tweak a bit but don’t have photoshop and am wondering if that’s what you used.

    1. Hi Alex!

Thank you so much for visiting, I used PicMonkey, which you can usually create and edit for free, but they also have I think a $5 a month options that gives you access to everything on their site. Happy Holidays!!
      xo, Tanya
