Hello friends!
I hope your first week of August was amazing, ours has been busy with getting closer to the finish line on a darling cottage kitchen remodel for one of our clients. I will make sure and share pictures soon, the cabinets are now a beautiful antique white, thick butcher block countertops and bright white tile in the background. It is a full country cottage makeover including new skylights to maximize the natural light.

When we are not working on a remodel for our clients we continue to work on projects around our own home and garden. I am not sure if we are going to get to the 2nd greenhouse we wanted to complete this year, but we were still able to plant a huge garden even with our little greenhouse out back. That project can be found here 🙂
Once August arrives, September is just a few weeks away and my head and heart go into full tilt Fall mode. I love every season, but Fall is for sure my favorite!
Warm blankets, something simmering in the crock pot, candles in your favorite fall scents bring all of the cozy together in such a beautiful way!
Today I am sharing a fluffy, romantic wreath that can sail you from late summer smack dab into pumpkin everything season.

I was going thru my fabric recently (I would call it a collection but let’s just be honest, it’s a full on hoard lol) and saw I had quite a few yards of lightweight unbleached muslin fabric.
I am loving all of the muted tones I am seeing for fall, and knowing my decor with be soft and neutral I thought a rag wreath would go perfectly with this cozy fall trend.

Wanting to make something that can transition from summer to fall and beyond, I kept it very simple.
But, the bow.
It had to have a bow.

I probably use the word slouchy or crumply too often but that is the only way I can describe the beauty of making something with such simple, natural elements.
Think oversized linen pillows that you sink into on the couch with a good read.
But in wreath form!
This would look beautiful without the bow or with a bow in pale amber or light mauve too.
Here is how I made this Cozy Cottage Fabric Wreath:
I used an 18″ wide wire wreath form, 2.5 yards of unbleached cotton muslin fabric, sharp scissors, and a measuring tape.

I like the way cotton fabric stretches a bit on the edges and ends when it’s torn (plus this is a huge time saver!) I made a short cut in the end of my fabric every 1.5 inches and tore each strip.

I left a long 4 inch wide piece at the end for the bow, but the narrow strips I cut into 10 to 11 inch pieces.
From there I tied them around the top of the wire alternating one on the inner then outer rings then one in the center repeating this all around until the wire was covered and I was satisfied with the fluffiness.
Also known as fluff factor, this wreath does not disappoint when it comes to fluff.

I used a 40 by 4 inch piece of fabric and tied a slouchy bow at the bottom of the wreath, and the wire on the back acts as a hanger so it’s ready to adorn your space!
Cutting and tying all of the strips took me a couple of hours, but I am working my way back thru Downton Abbey for the third time, so time flew by while I enjoyed everything that Dame Maggie Smith can serve up.

I wonder what would happen if we all donned a pretty pastel suit and a fine lady’s hat (feather included) to hit a few yard sales and the grocery store… I need to work on my British accent. Right now it sounds like I just left the dentist.
Oh well, not everyone can be a Dame.
But I would like to think the Dame would approve of our wreath.

And there you have it, in all it’s floofy, crumpled glory a new Cozy Cottage Fabric Wreath just in time for early Fall decorating.
Off to put another coat of paint on those gorgeous antique white cabinets!
I would love to hear how you are preparing for summer moving into fall, and if you too have your fall boxes down from the attic. I cannot be the only one 🙂
Just to go thru them, you know, get organized and be prepared of course…
Until next time friend, thank you so much for reading and I hope this finds you having a fluffy, all the cozy feels kind of week!
xo, Tanya
