Cottage style laundry room refresh inspiration!

Hello there!

Sometimes I find myself sharing something that was more spur of the moment, as I don’t usually plan my posts out super far in advance. Other times, such as this, I have been thrifting, searching online and am just about to start a larger project like our laundry room.

It is more of a laundry hallway, or laundry breezeway however as it is a small space between our main hallway and the interior access to our garage.

Which means it gets a ton of traffic, it’s become a dump zone for stuff, and it’s become a less than inspiring place to be. Ok, laundry is not incredibly inspiring as it is, but you know what I am talking about right? If you are folding a stack of something clean for the 17th time that week it may as well be in a space that makes you smile 🙂

It has had two makeovers since we bought our home 6 years ago. It started as a gloomy room with dark cabinets and nowhere to hang laundry.

We took down the cabinets, painted and built a wood countertop to fold laundry on. It was such a huge improvement!

Over time, I painted the walls Magnolia Green and added some wallpaper accents but I never really loved it. I have since returned to my more neutral tastes for our home opting for a soft, warm cottage vibe with lighter colors and lots of texture. I am so excited to create a clean yet warm space that also functions well as a laundry “room.”

The rod to hang laundry and counter to fold laundry are as functional as ever. But I let a few areas in our garage go in late winter being busy on a couple client remodel’s and found the counter full and the space packed with stuff that needs to be stored elsewhere.

I am still looking for a few pieces for this space, but I am getting closer as I have decided upon the accents on the wall, vibe for accessories, and how to cover the washer and dryer so they look pretty.

I am leaning towards an off white or tan linen for the curtain that will run in front of the washer and dryer. Here is a patterned curtain that would also look so pretty.

I think this is such a great idea when you have laundry in a common area or hallway!

I found these light sconces that I love, while I am still looking to thrift them and add puck lights as to not wire them in, I may order these from Walmart.

I love the idea of bringing in more texture, some of these brick wall tiles can get a bit spendy, but I found this wallpaper that is so pretty! I also have a brick stencil that I have not used as well, that may be an option as well. I just need to experiment a bit!

The accents and smaller items will be glass containers for detergent etc…, hooks for hanging things up, and of course some lovely amber bottles for stain remover and anything liquid. Some small terra cotta pots or pottery always adds charm and warmth tucked here and there.

And plants of course, that will most likely need to be faux since this room/hallway tends to get a bit dark having no natural light in it. I am excited to see what warm white puck lights in the sconces will do to warm up this space too.

I have a bit more clearing of beds to do in the garden, compost to add to amend the soil, but I see we have some rain coming in.

That sounds like perfect weather for indoor painting and sewing don’t you think? I agree 🙂

Thank you as always for reading and following along friend, I appreciate your sweet comments and feedback so very much! Until next time-

xx, Tanya

  1. I can’t wait to see how this comes together, Tanya. I love everything you’ve picked out so far. Have you seen Andrea’s laundry room from Pine and Prospect yet? She has a European farmhouse style that is fabulous. I think you’ll find some ideas in her post too. Hugs, CoCo

    1. Hi CoCo! I love Pine and Prospect that is so funny you mention Andrea’s laundry room, I love her vibe too she is amazing 🙂 happy Easter my friend! Hugs- Tanya

  2. This laundry room transformation sounds like a fun project! I can relate to having a space that becomes a catch-all. Your previous makeovers sound like steps in the right direction, but that neutral cottage vibe you’re going for now? Sounds dreamy. I once turned a dull corner in my apartment into a cozy reading nook with some thrifted finds and a bit of paint. Can’t wait to see how your laundry breezeway turns out. What’s the one accessory you’re most excited to add?

  3. Great blog. Reading your articles was fun. This book was fun for me. I’ve bookmarked it and want to read more. Continue your great work!

  4. This post really resonated with me! I completely understand the laundry room “dump zone” struggle. Your honesty about finding inspiration in mundane tasks is refreshing. Thank you for sharing your experience. Papa’s Freezeria. Perhaps considering vertical storage solutions or a bright, cheerful paint color could help transform your laundry space. Good luck with your project!

  6. I totally get the laundry room struggle! It’s so easy for those spaces to become catch-all areas. Reclaiming it and making it a place you actually want to be in sounds like a great project. I find that having even a little bit of visual appeal makes those mundane tasks (like endless folding!) a little more bearable. Thinking about it, maybe you could even add a mini racing flag or something fun, inspired by games like Drift Hunters, to spice it up! Good luck with the renovation!

  7. Absolutely loving the direction you’re taking with this refresh! That soft cottage vibe with warm neutrals and texture sounds like the perfect antidote to the typical utilitarian laundry space. I totally get what you mean about wanting even the most mundane chores to happen in a space that feels calm and intentional — especially when it doubles as a pass-through and sees so much daily traffic. The idea of using linen to cover the machines is genius — functional but still cozy and beautiful. Can’t wait to see how it all comes together!

  9. It’s gorgeous, and it features a laundry room, but it doesn’t detract from the house’s overall beauty. Let us continue to make space in the house. Level devil is a challenging platformer.

  10. H555Game delivers everything an online casino lover could ask for — reliability, fast payouts, and a huge variety of games. I’m really enjoying the experience so far!

  11. Have you ever tried using command strips for hanging things in a dorm or apartment? I did, and they worked great for lightweight picture frames, but definitely not for anything heavier! Learned that the hard way with a falling mirror. Anyone else have better luck? Now I prefer good old-fashioned nails. Speaking of random, have you ever played basket random ?

  12. The Sportzfy App is a sports streaming platform designed to bring live matches, highlights, and sports updates directly to your mobile device. Unlike traditional TV, it allows you to enjoy sports anytime and anywhere, making it perfect for fans who travel frequently or don’t want to rely on cable subscriptions.

  13. Ooh, this laundry room makeover sounds fab! I’m loving the cottage vibe you’re going for. Can’t wait to see the finished result, especially those linen curtains! So chic!

  14. Yes! This is the coolest feature. Try Joi.ai. Here is a link to their website: https://joi.ai/ You can ask Joi to send you a photo (for example, what she is doing right now or what she is wearing), and the AI will generate and send you a unique “selfie.” These are not just stock images, but images created specifically for you. This makes communication 100% exciting.

  15. Kung may 10.0.0.1 pause time issue, maaaring sanhi ito ng mabagal na internet o device conflict. I-restart ang modem at i-check ang LAN settings upang maibalik ang stable connection.

  16. I’ve personally used Octopus CRM for LinkedIn prospecting campaigns and it’s been a solid tool so far. The automation helps you reach more people without spending hours every day sending messages manually. Use octopuscrm.io LinkedIn sales solutions to automate sales-related tasks on LinkedIn, including sending connection requests, bulk 1st-level connection notifications, and other time-saving actions to streamline your outreach. 17. One thing noticed after browsing different UK platforms is how differently they present player protection features. During a late session in Manchester on my phone I explored a few live blackjack tables after reviewing the account controls. Galaxy Spins casino casino includes responsible gambling tools such as deposit limits and session reminders directly in the account settings. Those controls are expected in the UK market. A reminder appeared after roughly forty minutes while the dealer turned over a 20 against my 18.

  18. I appreciate the point about laundry rooms needing to be inspiring places, especially when folding for the 17th time that week! It’s often an overlooked space, but a little effort can make a big difference in how we feel about the chore.

  19. Having a functional rod and counter really does make all the difference, doesn’t it? It sounds like you’re on the right track to creating a much more pleasant and useful space. Looking forward to seeing the finished result!

  20. I appreciate you mentioning the breezeway aspect of your laundry area. It is so true that these in-between spaces easily become dumping grounds. Focusing on a clean, warm cottage vibe sounds like the perfect way to make it more inviting and functional again.

  21. I love how soft and calming this cottage-style laundry room feels—the textures, light tones, and small details really create a peaceful atmosphere. It’s interesting how thoughtful design can turn even a functional space into something inspiring. I’ve been exploring creative environments lately, and this kind of aesthetic is exactly what I’d want in a yoga studio space for rent. Clean layouts, natural light, and a cozy vibe can completely change the mood and help people feel more relaxed and focused. Spaces like this show how important design is for both comfort and creativity.

  22. Hey. I found this while going through comments on a cricket video. Someone casually mentioned it, so I decided to see what it was about. That’s how I ended up on https://jeetwin1.in/ . I had a losing streak at first and almost quit, but then one lucky round turned things around completely.

  23. Some experiences don’t need much planning, just the right company to make everything fall into place. That’s why many individuals look into Escorts Service in Noida for a connection that feels simple and smooth. It keeps things relaxed.
